Wedding Cost Checker is run by Ellul Malta Ltd, a small independent publisher. Nobody here sells weddings, books suppliers or takes a commission on what you book.
Why this site exists
An organiser planning a wedding is not short of averages. Every planning site publishes one. What almost nobody publishes is which suppliers will tell you a figure before you hand over your date, and that is the difference between a budget you can build and a budget you are guessing at. So this site fetches supplier pages, quotes the figures word for word, records the date, and records just as carefully the suppliers who publish nothing at all.
Who it is for
The couple eight to eighteen months out with a number in their head and no idea whether it is right.
The person at a company who has been handed a party and a budget line.
Anyone about to send the same enquiry to six suppliers and wondering what a reasonable answer looks like.
What it does not do
- We publish no ranking bought by a supplier, and no supplier pays to be in the record.
- We publish no invented price. A supplier who publishes nothing is listed as publishing nothing, with the date we checked.
- We do not dress an average up as a quotation. Only a supplier who has seen your date can quote.

- Wedding planners: Planners price in three completely different ways and the headline numbers are not comparable until you know which one you are being quoted.
- Wedding photographers: Photography is the category where published prices are easiest to find and hardest to compare, because two photographers quoting the same number are often selling different amounts of the day.
- Wedding cakes: A wedding cake is priced per portion far more often than per cake, which is why two quotes for the same design can be hundreds apart once the guest list changes.
- Wedding DJs: A wedding DJ is priced either as an hourly rate with a minimum attached or as a flat package for the evening, and the two look very different on paper while often landing in the same place.
- Entertainment and bands: Entertainment is the widest category on any wedding budget and the one where a headline figure tells you least.
- Wedding packages: A package is a supplier's way of pricing the common case, and it is genuinely cheaper when your wedding is the common case.
- Casino party hire: Fun casino hire is priced per table with a croupier attached, for a stated number of hours, and it is one of the few evening entertainment lines where the components are easy to count.
- Event fencing hire: Event fencing is priced by the length hired and the length of the hire, with delivery, installation and collection as their own lines, and it turns up on a wedding budget whenever the reception is somewhere that is not usually a venue.
- Civil ceremony fees: A civil wedding has two separate costs and confusing them is the commonest budgeting mistake in this whole category.
- A 100 guest wedding: A hundred guests is the size most people picture when they say a normal wedding, and it is a useful number to cost because the per-head lines and the fixed lines pull in opposite directions at exactly that scale.
- Every supplier category: This is the index of the whole record: every wedding and event supplier category this site covers, what each one charges for, and whether anybody in it publishes a figure before you hand over your date.
